Cleaning sweat from leather jacket

Unlike other types of clothing like cotton and other types of fabrics, you cannot clean a leather jacket in a washer and a dryer. Washing the leather jacket in submerged clothing ends up discoloring it and damaging its material. Making lose shape and become brittle.

A common nuisance occurring around the arm cuffs and collar edges of leather is sweat. Generally sweat stains appear greasy and they tend to blotch the leather. Removing this stain requires one to undertake due care to avoid damaging the fragile material. Anyone can clean sweat stains from a leather jacket provided they utilize proper methods.

You need a few things; a small bowl, a hanger a washcloth, Terry towels and leather cleaner. First and foremost you should try locating the care tag situated inside the leather jacket. The tag is usually found near the back of the inside of the leather jacket. If it is not there, locate it in the seams from the inside of the leather jacket. Ensure that you have read all the instructions and follow them to the latter. This will help in ensuring the leather is not ruined.

In the small bowl, pour in lukewarm water. Using a wash cloth submerged in the water, wring the cloth out until it is a damp to touch. Look out for a small inconspicuous area and test it so that you know the damage that is likely to happen to the entire leather jacket. Ensure all the sweat stains are wiped gently.

To help prevent water spots, use another cleaner terry cloth to buff the whole jacket in a gentle manner. Do this back and forth back and forth in gentle manner to the entire jacket. Then to prevent mildew from forming as a result of dampness, hang up the jacket. It should be hang in an open area away from other objects and clothing. This way you are guaranteed of a leather jacket free from sweat stains!
